Ways to Give

There are many ways to support the Royal Roads community

Explore our gift options and discover what best suits your philanthropic goals. Regardless of the means, your gift will help connect people, ideas and experiences to change lives and change the world.

Gifts are gratefully accepted in person, through an on-line donation, over the telephone and by mail. If you are interested in making a bequest via stocks and securities, a life insurance policy, RRSP or RRIF, please contact us.  This is a personal conversation and we understand that every situation is unique.

Tax benefits of giving

Gifts are 100 percent tax deductible.  Charitable donations are eligible for tax credits which can offset your payable income taxes.

You can calculate the benefits for your own gift using this online donation tax credit calculator and learn more about tax credits available on Canada Revenue Agency’s website.

Our Registered Charitable tax number is 881174528RR0001.

35,000 Aeroplan® Miles = $250 tuition credit

Redeeming points is simple. Check out HigherEdPoints.com for instructions.

Thank you. We are sincerely grateful for your support.

Cash

Monetary donations, whether by cheque, money order, credit card or currency, are the most common ways to give an outright gift to Royal Roads. A cheque is considered to have been given on the day it was mailed and a gift by credit card is considered to have been made on the date the obligation was incurred.

For more information on gifts of cash, please contact Hayley Bennett by email or by phone at 250-391-2561.

Gift in kind

Royal Roads will obtain independent opinions of the value of gifts in kind. These gifts will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Costs relating to acceptance, maintenance, management or resale of the gift or property will normally be the responsibility of the donor unless otherwise agreed.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Hayley Bennett by email or by phone at 250-391-2561.

Public Securities

Publicly-listed securities can include shares, bonds, bills, warrants and futures that are traded on prescribed stock exchanges. The valuation of gifts of publicly-listed securities is made by Royal Roads brokerage service.

Please contact Yvette Guigueno for more information by phone at 250-391-2562 or by email.

Monthly Gift

Monthly gifts may be made by credit card online or by submitting post-dated cheques.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Hayley Bennett by email or by phone at 250-391-2561.

Donation by will

Sometimes, people who would like to make a substantial donation cannot afford to part with assets during their lifetime. Donations by will may be specific, residual or contingent.

  • A specific gift gives Royal Roads a specific piece of property or amount of money.
  • A residual gift gives all or a portion of whatever remains of an estate after all debts, taxes expenses and specific gifts have been paid.
  • A contingent gift takes effect if certain conditions on which the gift is given are satisfied.

Please contact Yvette Guigueno by email or by phone at 250-391-2562 if you would like information to discuss with your lawyer or if you would like to discuss customized gift opportunities.
