Memorial Giving

Royal Roads University no longer accepts gifts involving individual commemorative plaques or placement of other physical pieces on campus in memory of a loved one. Gift opportunities in tribute, if desired, are available through other means, such as named awards, or donations made to existing awards in someone's honor. For more information, please contact the Advancement Office at or by phone at 1-866-207-0080.

We are blessed to be stewards of these historic lands. In respect of those who came before and those who come after, Royal Roads University will live in harmony with the land and the community.

We believe in the ancestral wisdom of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) and Lekwungen (Songhees) people, who once lived on these lands, harvesting its gifts for food, medicine and clothing.  These families shared the land’s resources with neighbouring families – the Scia’new (Beecher Bay) and T’Sou-ke (Sooke) – treating their guests with kindness and generosity.

We are all guests upon this remarkable landscape. As a 565-acre National Historic Site, Royal Roads knows no equal. Nature speaks to us here, and each of us has our favourite place that adds meaning and memory to our lives.

In this sense, the entire campus is a living memorial to all those who have loved, lived, and experienced life-changing moments at Royal Roads.  And in valuing place and person, everywhere on campus must allow individual reflection and remembrance.

Like the lessons of a millennial ago, Royal Roads University shares these lands widely, preserving the complete landscape so the property remains unified, restful and peaceful in its quiet beauty.
